On The Road!

Looks like a Go!

Since everything was ready, we ventured out Tuesday June 14th to head up the road. We were quietly checking over our lists and packing the last few items when I heard foosteps rushing toward us and "hey, wait a minute!" Our neighbor John was walking his dogs and stopped, grabbed his camera, and ran down the road with the two dogs on leash to photograph the grand departure!

Next, I see Blair passing by, tooting his horn and waving. Shortly thereafter, Elaine comes hustling up the street in her golf cart to say goodbye and wish us a safe trip. As we pulled out of the neighborhood, there's Pat standing in her driveway waving and shouting to us! Wow! Certainly we didn't expect this and our wonderful neighbors made us feel like celebrities of sort! It was an exciting and welcome surprise!

John has kindly forwarded the photos to me and I'm including them for your interest, with this update.

Our primary destination was Destin, Florida for the first couple days to afford ourselves a quick respite from the stress and toil of preparation. We had hoped we would arrive earlier because Google maps said it was 284 miles and it turned out that we rode over 400 miles to get here. (Don't trust Google!)

We didn't find our scheduled stop until late on Tuesday. Too late for the beach and we were just too exhausted from the heat of riding. Today, Wednesday, we had the time to unwind and go to the beach, then we relaxed around the pool while contemplating which route we would take from here. We have several mapped out. But today was a pleasant day and we enjoyed our brief time of decompression to plan our next phase.

  1. How are you two doing. To bad you don't have air on that bike. It has everything else. Every thing is fine on the home front. The guard are keep an eye on the place as I am also. Be safe
